Safran Ground Station is a turnkey ground segment solution with all required equipment and ground tools to proceed with removable media preparation and post-mission data retrieval and replay.
Key components are:
- Rugged Heavy duty Laptop PC for military environment
- RMM (Removable Memory Module) Docking Stations capable of reading up to 4 cartridges simultaneously, especially useful for mass debriefing.
- Ground software suite (RMM Manager, eZ Viewer, MUST), very intuitive and user-friendly interface, for replay and exploitation of data while allowing customizable configuration of the display for mission debriefing.

ARES (formerly IRIS) from Safran Defense & Space, Inc. (formerly Safran Data Systems, Inc.) represents the next-gen in transportable antenna systems. Utilizing a reliable pedestal design and a dual-band concentric feed, ARES antenna ensures pinpoint accuracy and top-notch antenna performance. Crafted from standard (LRU) parts, it’s a breeze to maintain and service on-site, guaranteeing maximum uptime for all satellite missions. Combined with the SATCORE combo box (Command/Control modem & high-rate receiver) and the TM MAESTRO Monitoring & Control software, ARES is the all-in-one portable satellite tracking system.
The PPS®1350 Hall Effet plasma thruster draws on Safran’s long experience with electric propulsion. It is designed for orbital transfer, station keeping and deorbiting satellites and other spacecraft. In particular, the PPS 1350 was the primary engine on ESA’s lunar probe, Smart-1, launched in 2003 by an Ariane 5 rocket. This mission was completed in September 2006.
The PPS®5000, produced by Safran Spacecraft Propulsion, is a Hall Effect Thruster purposely designed for “all-electric” satellites. It can operate in high-thrust or high specific impulse mode,and offers an operating lifespan of about 20,000 hours. This means it can handle orbital positioning and station-keeping duties for a wide range of telecom and navigation satellites, as well as exploration spacecraft. The PPS®5000 was fully qualified in 2021.
The SPARTE e100 is a hybrid antenna addressing the telemetry applications in S-Band, including hypersonic test articles.
The antenna is a combination of an Electronic Beam Steering supporting any elevation from -5° up to +95° and a single-axis mechanical rotation of the patch panel providing unlimited azimuth. The patch panel’s size enables the SPARTE e100 to achieve telemetry reception performance comparable to that of a 1.2m diameter dual-axis antenna.
This is achieved with a significantly simpler mechanical design, ensuring easier maintenance throughout the antenna’s operational lifespan.
The SPARTE e100’s rapid tracking capabilities, reaching speeds of up to 60°/s in azimuth and virtually infinite in elevation, make it an ideal “lock-on” antenna.
